While every day should be romantic, this Sunday is the most ROMANTIC day of the year, Valentine’s Day.

There’s so many ideas out there flowers, candles, rose petals, control of the remote….lol. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be difficult. Just think of your partner and what would make them happy, what’s their interests.

To help give you some ideas, I’ve asked some of our Burly Boyz and Girlz what some of their favourite romantic things are to do.

Massage with Candles

Our movers work hard all day, lifting heavy furniture, through the sun, rain and snow. One of our veteran movers Chris says soft music, candles and a massage. What better way to relax those aching Burly muscles. Or another great idea is to do a couples massage. You both can relax together.

Romantic Dinner In

We all know that one way to a man’s (woman’s) heart is through his stomach. Montana, one of our team leads and drivers, loves to cook; his specialty is Thai food. Have your significant other sit back and relax with a nice glass of wine while you cook them up one of your specialties, or better yet cook together.

With the lockdowns during COVID, many restaurants put together great make at home packages. From charcutterie, steak and lobster, to pizza and pasta there are a lot of different ideas out there. Add some candles on the table, a table cloth and make it really special.

Get Away

If you have children at home, trying to do something romantic for your significant other could be difficult. Mike, our personnel manager, recommends the Geo Domes at Elk Island. Enjoy nature, the stars, a weekend away from the kids. Unfortunately they don’t open until March, however, you can get a gift certificate & hire a baby sitter.

If the outdoors isn’t quite your thing. Heading to a nice hotel, changing into a plush bathrobe and dialing up some room service would make your Valentine’s Day extra special. Don’t forget breakfast in bed.

Go on a Hike

A hike is a great way to bond and unplug from the everyday says Liz, member of our sales team. The fresh air, getting out of the city and taking an adventure in the outdoors. If you can’t get out of town, the city has many amazing hiking trails and paths. If you’re not familiar with them, check out your city’s website for trails and explore them together.

With many of the parks having firepits or stoves, bring some firewood and pot to boil hot water and make hot chocolate.

For the Family

If your family likes to include the kids for a fun Valentine’s day, like our marketing manager Dione, here are some great ideas to enjoy your day together.

  • Grab your skates and go to the local skating rink
  • Order in pizza and have a fun games night.
  • Plan a movie marathon, don’t forget the popcorn
  • Have a Valentine’s bake-off

Who knew our Burly Boyz were so sweet and romantic.

With the challenging year we’ve had Valentine’s Day can help rekindle the spark as a couple or create new memories.
